Do I have to pay anything for my child to have access to these Chromebooks?

Barnstable Public Schools is strongly suggesting that families opt into an optional insurance coverage through Worth Ave for $20.00 a year. The insurance covers unlimited repairs.  More information on that can be found under the Worth Ave links. This is a voluntary program and families are encouraged, but not required, to participate. Families can self enroll and pay the fee by going online to our website found here. Families who qualify and participate in Free and Reduced lunch will have their fee waived.  If the insurance is not purchased, families will be financially responsible for all damages and loss up to the full replacement cost associated with such loss or damage of the Chromebook, and will be invoiced through MYSCHOOLBUCKS. I highly recommend that families do make a direct payment to Worth Ave Insurance for peace of mind for the entire school year.

Estimated Costs of the Chromebook, parts, and replacements:

  • Replacement device - $230.00
  • Screen Replacement - $50.00
  • Keyboard/touchpad - $40.00

NOTE: The insurance/extended warranty does not cover malicious/ intentional damage.
