The last two months have seen quite a start to the 2020-2021 school year. Despite all the additional challenges, in many ways, we have experienced one of the most rewarding beginnings to a school year. With the help of Covid, we have accomplished a long standing goal: to make our large school have the feel of a small neighborhood school. With smaller class sizes and improved traffic flow in the hallways, students are enjoying a greater sense of peace. A simplified daily schedule has provided a consistent structure for our students, and our Neighborhood model has created a greater sense of community within the school. The students share how grateful they are to be back in school and we are so happy to be here with them, teaching and learning in person. Hybrid instruction is becoming more familiar and we are poised for a fabulous year of academic and social growth. I want to thank the students, teachers, and families for making these first six weeks such a positive experience for our BIS community.
