I hope you are having an amazing summer with your family and enjoying some well-deserved rest and relaxation. I have been fortunate to be selected as the new principal for West Villages Elementary School. I am excited to be joining this excellent team of highly talented educators. We will be working diligently this school year to ensure all students reach their highest potential.
I would like to share a little about myself, however, I know we will have many opportunities to get to know each other. I have been married for 17 years to a wonderful man, we have two smart and talented teenagers in middle and high school. I grew up in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, home of the Pawsox and attended Howard University in Washington DC. I have been working in the Boston Public Schools for the past 20 years in various capacities. I am fluent in several languages, Spanish, Portuguese, and Cape Verdean Kriolu, but I would love to learn more. I’m excited to learn more about the families at West Villages Elementary, so please stop by and say hello.
My goal this year is to continue to build a welcoming school environment, that focuses on building relationships and solidifying the home/school partnership. My hope is to create a village where parents, family members, students, teachers, and community partners work together to create a network of academic and social-emotional support for all our students to be successful. As the African proverb goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I know this will be a learning year, but I feel confident that we will accomplish many great things together.
I would like to extend an invitation to you and your family to a Back to School BBQ on Friday, August 16, 2019, from 4: 00 PM-6: 00 PM. I hope you will join me and my family as we begin the process of learning about the West Villages Elementary School community. The bar-b-que will be hosted by the school and the PTO, but feel free to bring some desserts to share. We look forward to meeting you, your child, and your families.
Don’t forget school starts on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, for grades 1-3 and Thursday, August 29 for kindergarten. Please give us a call if you have any questions or concerns 508 420-1100.
