Protocol: Travel Guidelines

Travel within the United States: 

Students or staff who travel to another state for more than 24 hours are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to quarantine for 10 days OR receive a negative test 3 to 5 days after travel prior to return to school unless one of the following exemptions applies: 

  • Individuals who are fully vaccinated (have received two doses of either the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines or who have received a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, 14 days or more ago) and who do not have symptoms do not need to test or quarantine but should monitor for symptoms.
  • Individuals who have had PCR-confirmed COVID-19 within 90 days of their travel and who do not have symptoms do not need to test or quarantine but should monitor for symptoms.


International Travel: 

All individuals (regardless of age), must do one of the following prior to returning to school: 

  • quarantine for 10 days;
  • receive a negative PCR or antigen test 3-5 days after return to the United States AND quarantine for 7 days (even if the test is negative)
    provide proof of PCR-confirmed COVID-19 infection within 90 days of their travel; or
  • provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
    • Fully vaccinated individuals are strongly encouraged to test 3-5 days after travel and to monitor for symptoms.

All COVID-19 protocols will be reevaluated regularly based upon community transmission data, vaccination rates, and in conjunction with federal, state, and local guidance.
