Thank you for taking the time to read this important letter. The social emotional programming that we have for our classrooms is called Second Step. Most of this program is implemented by our classroom teachers, who present lessons to increase the skills of our students in the area of getting along with others and working well in the school. There are three lessons that will be taught by our School Counseling Department: Mrs. Jennifer Delaney, Mrs. AmyBeth Veara and Mrs. Laureen Cardoza. The curriculum will be focused on the following skills:
All three of these skills are important for our students to learn for their own personal safety and well being. Due to the nature of these topics, we are providing you with the attached letters so you can review the Second Step program and the topics that are covered. Please take the time to review this material. If you do not want your child to participate in these lessons, please return the opt out portion on the bottom of the attached letter. The lessons will be every week starting on November 17th. Please return the opt out portion before that date so we can make sure to have an alternate plan for your child during the lesson.
If you have any questions about the curriculum, our Counselors would be able to answer them for you. Please feel free to call them at any time with your questions.
