Upcoming Spring Events
Some schools in the district may be holding outdoor Spring events which include families, as long as the three main safety guidelines are maintained: hand hygiene, physical distancing of 6ft and masking. Based on past experience, ECELC staff feels that these guidelines would not be easily enforced due to the age of the children and the usual attendance of siblings, therefore, we will not be holding end-of-year events in person which include visitors. Instead, teachers will be holding individual classroom field days for their students in May and sharing virtual celebrations/shows with families at the end of the year.
As a reminder, any child who will be 5 years on or before September 1, 2021 is eligible for Kindergarten. Students currently enrolled at Enoch Cobb are already registered as a student in Barnstable Public Schools. Families DO NOT need to re-register their student(s) for Kindergarten. We will pass your child’s school information on to his/her next school in June. The district’s elementary schools will be holding Kindergarten screenings in the Fall. Please be on the lookout for information from your child’s next school in your email over the Summer.
Students Returning to ECELC
If your child is already enrolled at ECELC and is not going to be age eligible for Kindergarten, he/she automatically has a space in our program. You do not need to reapply. If your child will be withdrawing from ECELC, please let us know. Many factors must be considered when creating class rosters including boy-to-girl ratio, special needs of the students, and language proficiency of students. For this reason, we often need to shuffle students around into new classrooms. If your child MUST have a specific session (AM or PM), please email Betsy McKane. We cannot accept requests for specific teachers. We anticipate notifying families via letter of your child’s placement for 2021-2022 in June.
New Peer Models
We are now accepting applications for peer model students for the 2021-2022 school year. If you know of a family looking for a half-day, part week program for next year, please let them know we will be accepting applications through April 15th. Applications can be found on our website.
Since the start of the school year, we have had a total of 10 positive student cases of COVID-19 and approximately 50 students identified as close contacts. I am still able to report that our health and safety protocols are working, therefore, we have seen no in-school spread of the virus. Thank you to parents and staff for strictly adhering to the health and safety guidelines!
Next week is April vacation! There will be no school April 19th - 23rd.
