    CENTERVILLE ELEMENTARY
    BACK TO SCHOOL NEWSLETTER

    August 28, 2018

    Dear Centerville Families,

Welcome back to an exciting new school year!  I hope your summer was full of fun and wonderful times!  We are excited to be back in session for the 2018-2019 school year.

I want to take a moment to remind everyone that we are a tree nut safe school.  This has been in place now for thirteen years. We do have students with allergies and we want them to feel included in the classrooms and in the cafeteria.  Thank you for working with us in keeping our students safe by not sending in products that contain nuts. If your child has a dietary need our nurse Mrs. Mayers is always available to provide support to help meet your child’s need.

Our drop off time in the morning is at 8:45 AM.  Please do not send children out of your vehicle until our staff have taken positions outside in the crosswalk and on the sidewalk.  Parent pick-up will begin 3:25 with us calling students for parent pick-up so that they will begin going out at 3:30. Our buses will be leaving here at 3:45.  Please be patient at the start of the school year since we are still in tourist season and drivers may be a little behind schedule. In a few weeks, everything will be running smoothly.

We NEED room parents (Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, Guardians) for each classroom.  Please send a note to the teacher if you are interested in supporting our school this year.  We are looking for people who can support events throughout the school year and be a bridge to the PTA.  Do not be afraid, it is not necessary to attend PTA meetings. We need your support to continue to make this school a fantastic place!

Dismissal and parent pick-up will be in the big loop.  Please follow the directions of staff when outside. You MUST have your car tag in order to pick up your student.  We have provided you with two so you can have multiple people pick up your students. Parents if you are planning on changing anything about your child’s dismissal, a note signed by you sent to school is required.  Please do not sent emails or texts through Remind to the teacher. Everything must go through the front office. Phone calls are allowed to the front office in an emergency if a change is necessary. It should be a rare occasion a phone call occurs.

Finally, Open House is on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.  Those with the last names from N-Z will come from 6:00-6:45 and the last names A-M will come from 6:45-7:30.  If you cannot come at your assigned time, please feel free to come with the other group. As most of you know, we have limited parking here, so this will allow everyone to get in and out comfortably.

I cannot express how excited I am to start the year.  Welcome back!

    Mr. Scheufele
