Barnstable County Sheriff Donna D. Buckley is pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2024 Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Summer Youth Academy, which runs from July 1 to Aug. 1 at the Cape Cod Community College campus.
This summer’s program is fully funded by Cape Cod Healthcare. Cape Cod Community College has generously donated the space for a second year.
Youth between the ages of 13 and 16 are invited to participate in this program of personal growth and development. The Academy runs four days a week, Monday through Thursday. “I’m thrilled to offer the youth on Cape Cod a program that will change their lives and shape their futures,” said Sheriff Buckley. “The youth of this community are one of the top priorities of this Office. We are grateful to all our partners, especially our sponsor Cape Cod Healthcare. They understand that the resources spent influencing children at a young age will deliver countless positive benefits for the future.”

Students will work with deputies from the BCSO, law enforcement officers, and youth experts from all over Cape Cod to develop pro-social skills and resiliency. In collaboration with local community partners, the youth will learn self-control, respect, teamwork, integrity, and positive communication. They will also have fun and make new friends. The program lasts five weeks. The goal of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Youth Academy is to empower individuals, families, and communities to put an end to violence and crime, and to stop substance abuse and delinquency.
