BHS-8th Grade Robotics

In 8th grade robotics we learn how to construct robots from the ground up using Arduino microprocessors, motors, sensors, basic coding and patience. Barnstable High School students will be competing in the first ever Cape Cod Mini Maker Faire robotics competition.

Learn to Code

  • Every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science. Code.org has developed an elementary school curriculum that allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing - at no cost for schools. The courses blend online, self-guided and self-paced tutorials with “unplugged” activities that require no computer at all. Even kindergarten-aged pre-readers can participate.

Apple IIgs

Step back in time and experience a hands on demonstration of one of the great Apple II computers, the Apple IIgs. Participants will be invited to try out the various features of the Apple IIgs to gain an appreciation of not only vintage computing, but the progress of modern technology.

Elementary 3D Design

  • Students in grades 4 and 5 explore Sketchup, a 3D design application used by people from grade school to professional architecture careers. We focus on using a variety of design tools, and preparing models for a 3D printer.
