Homework Policy

    1 - Three mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 15 minutes.

    2 - Three mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 20 minutes.

    3 - Four mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 30 minutes.

    4 - Four mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 40 minutes.

    5 - Four mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 50 minutes.

    6 - Five mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 60 minutes coordinated by the respective Teams.

    7-8 - Five mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 90 minutes coordinated by the respective Teams.

    9-12 - Four to five mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 75 to 120 minutes.

    Responsibilities

    Principal
    • Communicate homework policy.
    • Coordinate among disciplines.
    • Monitor homework policy implementation.
    • Develop homework report form.
    • Make homework topic of parent and faculty meetings.
    • Emphasize teaching study skills that allow students to work independently.
    Teacher
    • Communicate district policy to students.
    • Assign homework according to this document.
    • Plan and prepare all homework thoroughly.
    • Give students feedback on homework.
    • Emphasize skills which allow student to work independently on homework.
    • Never assign homework as punishment.
    • Use homework in assessment.
    • Encourage parents to create home environment that fosters homework.
    • Refrain from putting parent in teaching role.
    • Check progress of long term assignments periodically.
    • Inform parents of long range assignments.
    • Coordinate long term assignments with other teachers.
    Parent
    • Be aware of policy.
    • Be positive toward homework.
    • Provide quiet, well lighted area to complete homework.
    • Establish definite time for homework.
    • Read to children regularly.
    • Refrain from doing homework.
    Student
    • Complete and return all homework during allotted time.
    • Seek immediate help from teachers if work is not understood.
    • Establish a realistic time schedule for long term assignments.
    • Read nightly for pleasure.
    • Do homework on your own and to the BEST of your ability.
