• Welcome to the Barnstable High School Chorus page.  At BHS, students are able to participate in a variety of choral ensembles.
Concert Chorale (Honors and CP2): This is the largest ensemble for grades 8-12.  The Concert Chorale is recommended to all students who have a desire to sing.  While there is no required previous experience, students should be serious about improving their musicianship and vocal technique.  This course is beneficial to people intending to continue music study, as well as students who wish to develop their skills for a more casual understanding of singing.  Concert Chorale meets 4 times a week and performs in the winter and spring concert.
Chamber Choir (Honors): Open to students in grades 10-12, Chamber Choir is an auditioned chorus for students with prior singing experience.  Students should be very serious about improving their musicianship and vocal technique.  Students work on advanced choral literature at an accelerated pace.  This ensemble will participate in a variety of performances and music festivals.
Vocal Jazz Ensemble (Honors Honors): Students interested in Vocal Jazz must also be enrolled in Chamber Choir.  Vocal Jazz is by audition only during the previous year. The vocal jazz ensemble is an after school ensemble that meets after school and is selected from students in the Chamber Choir.  The materials covered will mainly focus on the Swing and Latin idioms.  Emphasis is placed on ensemble performance, Appropriate stylistic interpretation, solo styles, and improvisation.  The vocal jazz ensemble performs at school events and jazz festivals.
