    Welcome to Gateway

We are so excited to have everyone back this school year! Although we were able to provide limited opportunities in Gateway last year, we are functioning at full capacity this year and are eager to help develop the talents of all students in Barnstable through our tiered support.

    What is Gateway?

GATEWAY is an acronym which stands for “Gifted And Talented Education With All Youth''.  Our mission is to support all students through talent development and to identify, challenge, and encourage academically advanced and creative learners.  Visit our parent and staff pages for frequently asked questions for more information for grades K-7.  Information about programs at BHS can be found on the Barnstable High School Gateway page.

Mrs. Salley is an English teacher at BHS, a Scenario Writing coach and FPS team coach for the senior division--grades 10-12. She loves teaching English to sophomores and AP Literature to seniors. Before she began at Barnstable over 25 years ago, Mrs. Salley was a Visual Editor for an educational media company outside of New York City. I worked on storyboarding with the writer, and staging photo shoots with the photographer. Those collaborations were invaluable in helping me coach teams for FPS. On the other hand, I find great joy in working with individual students on their scenarios, using skills I learned as a freelance writer and editor. It’s so rewarding to see young writers find and develop their own creative voice.
