    Kindergarten Transition 

    Any child who will be 5 years on or before September 1, 2021 is eligible for Kindergarten.  Students currently enrolled at Enoch Cobb are already registered as a student in Barnstable Public Schools.  Families DO NOT need to re-register their student(s) for Kindergarten.  We will pass your child’s school information on to his/her next school in June. More information about the transition to Kindergarten and the Kindergarten screening process will be coming soon.

    Enoch Cobb does not allow retention of preschoolers who are age eligible for Kindergarten for a variety of reasons.  If you feel your child is not ready for Kindergarten, enrolling your child in a private preschool is an option.  Please know that we work closely with the elementary staff to thoughtfully plan transitions for our students with disabilities.  The elementary staff will be aware of all student needs and will have appropriate supports in place prior to their arrival!

    Report Cards & Progress Reports

    Believe it or not, preschoolers get report cards! Your child’s report card and an additional progress report (if your child has an Individualized Education Plan) will be sent home in your child’s backpack the week of February 8th.  Reports for our fully remote students will be mailed.

    Covid Update

    Since the start of the school year, we have had a total of 8 students who have tested positive for Covid-19 and a handful of students who have been identified as close contacts.  I am pleased to report that our health and safety protocols are working, therefore, we have seen no in-school spread of the virus.  All of the students who did test positive were not in school during their infectious period, thanks to parents who have strictly followed our request to keep children home if they have any minor symptoms. I’m happy to report these children had mild symptoms and recovered quickly.  Our staff members continue to ensure our classrooms are clean and healthy by helping students to wash hands frequently, sanitizing toys after each small group has used them, encouraging children to use individual supplies and helping them to wear face covering consistently.  The team effort between staff and families has made it possible to keep our school open and keep our kids learning and laughing! 


    Because our staff members have also been following health and safety protocols and staying home when minor symptoms arise, we have had many staff absences throughout the year.   Because we have capped our group sizes at 10 students only, we have been able to maintain a safe and productive learning environment. In addition some staff members have had to take extended leaves of absence for a variety of reasons.  Unfortunately, we have had no applicants to fill these open positions.  Although we have been able to make it work so far, I anticipate there will be days I will need to flip classrooms to remote learning due to lack of adequate staffing.  Please be prepared, get your technology ready and make a back up plan.  Should you know someone who would be interested in filling one of our paraprofessional positions, please encourage them to apply!

    Parent Advisory Committee

    All parents/caregivers are welcome to join or drop-in to our Parent Advisory Committee which meets virtually on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 5:00-6:00pm.  Parents are encouraged to ask questions about our learning models and provide feedback for program improvement.
