Happy New Year!
August 23, 2019
Dear Preschool Families,
In the field of education, the new year begins in September when the doors to school open to students once again. The building is refreshed, floors are waxed, bulletin boards redesigned, cubbies tagged and new crayons set to go. It’s hard to believe that summer is already coming to a close and we are about to embark on a fresh new year, but we are ready and excited to see returning faces and meet new ones!
Here are some things you need to know:
Student Schedules: Classroom placement/schedule letters were sent home to all preschool families in May and June stating your child’s teacher, weekly schedule, orientation date/time and official start date. If you cannot locate the letter, please give us a call at 508-790-6493 on Monday or Tuesday to find out your child’s schedule.
Communication: I will be emailing families frequently throughout the year with updates and information on upcoming events. You may also like us on Facebook, as I always try to post information there too. We will be providing each student with a “communication notebook”. This should be kept in his/her backpack for writing notes back and forth between parents and teachers. Teachers will also have you sign up for Remind, which is a quick and easy communication tool.
Orientation Visits: We encourage all families to come to orientation if possible. Teachers will share everything you need to know about preschool, what your child should bring to school, explain our drop-off and pick-up procedure and more.
Family Events: We will hold several family events throughout the year, which may include a Fall Harvest Festival, Curriculum Night, holiday celebrations, play days at the Cape Cod Children’s Museum, and Spring Fling. There will be plenty of opportunity to mingle with other preschool families and embrace our ECELC community.
Parking: Parking is an issue. Unfortunately, our parking lot does not accommodate the number of families we have coming in and out of school daily. For that reason, we have “curbside drop-off and pick-up” which allows parents to avoid parking all together and just pull up to the curb where ECELC staff will walk your child into school. Teachers will explain this in detail at orientation, but I highly encourage all families to use this system instead of parking if your child is comfortable with this. There is also additional parking across the street at Star Market.
Student ID Badges: Each child will be given an ID badge which we will fasten to his/her backpack. This will have their name and teacher on it and will help us make sure each child gets to the right class in these first weeks when we may not know all of the new faces. Please leave these tags on!
I will be emailing out our Parent Handbook this week and it will also be posted on our website. Please be sure to read through it for more information.
