  • First Day

    We look forward to welcoming our in-person and remote learners back on September 28th!

    Preschool Orientation

    Preschool orientations took place on September 17th, 18th and 21st remotely.  If you were unable to participate, you may still be able to meet virtually with your child’s teacher on September 24th.  Please reach out to your child’s teacher via email.  All teacher email addresses are in the following format: lastname_firstname@mybps.us

    Bus Information

    Only students who receive special education services qualify for transportation.  Families should be receiving phone calls to notify them of pick up and drop off times by Friday, September 25th. 

    Technology Update

    All preschool families will be loaned an ipad for student use for the school year.  Remote learners will be using these daily.  In-person learners will use these periodically to submit homework assignments and will need them if their classroom needs to transition to remote learning temporarily. Technology pick up day is Friday, September 25th.  Please see the attached flyers for details on when you can pick your child’s ipad and other important materials up prior to the start of school.  If you can’t make it on the 25th, we will send these items home in backpacks on Monday, September 28th for in-person learners.  Remote learners will need to call the office (508) 790-6493 to arrange a pick up time.

    Face Covering Update

    All staff and students are required to wear face coverings.  Students are required to have a mask and wear it to the greatest extent possible, with the exception of eating, or during water/mask breaks.  Students who are unable to wear a mask at any time due to a disability or medical condition will require a mask exemption letter from a physician to be kept on file at school.  This will communicate to staff that building mask tolerance should not be worked on with the child.  Students who are not yet wearing masks consistently, who are working to build mask tolerance, DO NOT need a letter from a physician, as they are not exempt from wearing a mask.  Staff will be working with them to develop and increase mask tolerance while at school.  If a non-exempt child fails to make progress toward mask tolerance within a two week period of time, a physician’s note may be requested.   If a student does not have a face covering, he/she will be provided with a face covering by the District. Face coverings can be disposable or reusable and will need to fully cover the nose and mouth, secure under the chin, be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material, fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face, and be secured with ties or ear loops.  Based on guidance from health authorities neck gaiters, open chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind will not be considered appropriate face coverings. Please scan and email physician’s notes to o’hara_patricia@mybps.us or drop it off at school by pulling up to  the front curb, calling the main office at (508) 790-6493 and following the directions given.

    Physical Distancing Update

    Students attending in person will be supported to maintain 6ft of physical distance from other students when outdoors (when not wearing masks) and at other times when feasible.   Students will be supported to maintain at least 3ft of physical distance from other students consistently throughout the day while engaged in all types of activities. Students will have individual seating during Circle Time and Story Time spaced a minimum of 3 ft apart using individual, labeled carpet circles and/or cube chairs. Classroom groups will be considered a “cohort” and will not mix with other groups. For safety reasons, adults (teachers, assistants, therapists, Principal) will be in close proximity to students while supporting them in learning activities, providing special education services and traveling from point A to point B.

    Educator Landing Pages

    Each of the preschool teachers and therapists has created a “landing page”.  A landing page is an online classroom space where you can find everything you need to know about your child’s classroom, such as; teacher contact information, weekly themes, concepts and skills being taught for the week, important reminders and classroom updates, parent resources, homework assignments and detailed learning plans!  These have been created to avoid bombarding families with emails from the school and district, but it is essential that parents check out the teacher’s landing page every week so that you and your child don’t miss anything! Landing pages can be found on the Barnstable Public Schools website by clicking the Teaching and Learning tab, then selecting Enoch Cobb Early Learning Center followed by your child’s teacher.  Most of these are up and running and a few will be posted shortly!
