There is a lot of construction and detours taking place in the Town of Barnstable and we ask that you please be patient with the buses and schedules. We have done our best to reroute where we can, but unfortunately, there is so much traffic backup that it has affected many of our bus routes. We appreciate your patience as we work through many of these projects as they will continue to be on-going and please know the bus drivers are doing their very best to navigate.

Healthy School Transportation Guiding Principles
We have developed transportation procedures in accordance with DESE Guidance for School Transportation.
Disinfecting/Sanitizing: Disinfecting will continue as needed and at minimum high touch surfaces will be wiped down daily.
Hand Sanitizing: All buses have hand sanitizer stations as children enter and they may use the hand sanitizer upon boarding.
Masks/Face Coverings: The use of masks will be optional for all BPS students on school buses.
Screening: Parents/caregivers are expected to assess their child’s health on a daily basis and not send them on the bus if they are ill. Schools will provide information to families in their primary language to support them in conducting this symptom check and families should not send their children to school if they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms. Bus drivers and monitors will receive training from our school nurses on screening for COVID-19 symptoms. In grades K-7, a parent or caregiver must be present when a child boards the bus in the morning. If any student presents with symptoms, the student will not be permitted to board the bus. The parent or caregiver must contact the school nurse before bringing their child to school. If a student becomes ill with COVID-19 during the school day, the student will not be permitted to ride the school bus home.
Ventilation: Bus windows must remain open at all times unless not possible due to extreme weather conditions. Even in cold or rainy weather, bus windows should be kept open at least partially (a couple of inches), if possible.
**Note Routing Change** In order to try and minimize the time students spend together on buses, bus stops will be moved out of neighborhoods and more centrally located. Be aware, you may not have the same bus stop as in years past.
