Ahoy Matey !

The captain and the crew of a whale watching boat have requested you and your classmates help in teaching children from around the world about Cape Cod and one of its native species of mammals...............the humpback whale.
They have requested that we create an ABC Book that enables their guests to understand more about this gentle giant. As authors, you will need to do research on the Internet and in the library to prepare yourself for the task at hand.

Investigation 3: Were you surprised that there were two types of whales; toothed and baleen? Both types have many things in common, but they are unique as well. Learn about each group and then write a short paragraph describing the ways they are alike and the ways they are different. You may want to create a Venn diagram as a graphic organizer for this .

Investigation 5: Today the whale is a protected animal, but long ago the whale was a valuable source of oil, food, and other by products. At one time New Bedford was one of the richest cities in the world, it was considered the capital of the whaling industry. View these sites and then make a semantic map of reasons why the whale was so hunted.
