![]() Conclusion Through
this curriculum and WebQuest on the Dewey Decimal System, students have
explored the Dewey Decimal System as a way of organizing and finding
material in a library. Students are also able to demonstrate the use
of the World Wide Web as a research tool. The World Wide Web is a vast storehouse of knowledge. Sometimes, the amount of information which is available is overwhelming. A search on a search engine on the Dewey Decimal System returned 31,000 sites. The use of a WebQuest will reduce the number of sites a student has to deal with. The student will be successful in a short period of time in answering a given question because the site he has been directed to has been selected by the WebQuest designer for that answer. The sites the student goes to will be live sites with appropriate material because the WebQuest designer has selected these sites with that in mind. The selected sites are periodically screened to make certain that they are still viable and appropriate.
