Visits to the Health Office:
We hope you don't get sick or hurt at school, but if you
should, the School Nurse is there to help you. Your teacher
will give you a pass and dismiss you from class. Go directly
to the Health Office.
Medications:
Whenever possible, medications should be given at home
and every effort made to avoid school hours. When this
is not possible, medication will be administered in the
Health Office. A signed authorization form, completed
by both parent/guardian and physician, is required by
law before being administered at school (this includes
both prescription and over the counter medications). Medication
authorization forms listing all regulations are available
at the Health Office. Students may not carry medications
at anytime. Parents are to bring medications to the Health
Office in a current pharmacy bottle or original container.
Over the Counter Medication:
The health office is not able to dispense any "over
the counter" (non-prescription) medications except
with written permission from a licensed physician.
Dismissal for an Illness:
Any student not well enough to remain in school must report
to the Health Office where a determination for dismissal
will be made and the parent/guardian contacted. Parents
are advised to list 3 alternate names on the Emergency
Procedure Cards in case the parent/guardian cannot be
available.
Screening Programs: Students are screened each year for
vision, hearing, height, and weight. Parents will be notified
of any screenings and of any concerns.
