Homework Policy
Grade File: IKB
1 Three mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 15 minutes.
2 Three mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 20 minutes.
3 Four mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 30 minutes.
4 Four mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 40 minutes.
5 Four mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 50 minutes.
6 Five mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 60 minutes coordinated by the respective Teams.
7-8 Five mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 90 minutes coordinated by the respective Teams.
9-12 Four to five mandatory assignments a week, each lasting approximately 75 to 120 minutes.

Responsibilities
Principal
1. Communicate homework policy.
2. Coordinate among disciplines.
3. Monitor homework policy implementation.
4. Develop homework report form.
5. Make homework topic of parent and faculty meetings.
6. Emphasize teaching study skills that allow students to work independently.
Teacher
1. Communicate district policy to students.
2. Assign homework according to this document.
3. Plan and prepare all homework thoroughly.
4. Give students feedback on homework.
5. Emphasize skills which allow student to work independently on homework.
6. Never assign homework as punishment.
7. Use homework in assessment.
8. Encourage parents to create home environment that fosters homework.
9. Refrain from putting parent in teaching role.
10. Check progress of long term assignments periodically.
11. Inform parents of long range assignments.
12. Coordinate long term assignments with other teachers.
Parent
1. Be aware of policy.
2. Be positive toward homework.
3. Provide quiet, well lighted area to complete homework.
4. Establish definite time for homework.
5. Read to children regularly.
6. Refrain from doing homework.
Student
1. Complete and return all homework during allotted time.
2. Seek immediate help from teachers if work is not understood.
3. Establish a realistic time schedule for long term assignments.
4. Read nightly for pleasure.
5. Do homework on your own and to the BEST of your ability.
