Career Academy
 
Strands offered: Retailing/Business Communication Strand, Marketing and E-Commerce Strand, and Restaurant and Hotel Management.
The Retailing/Business Communications Strand is designed to prepare students for a successful career in the retailing industry, business office environment or service industry. Students will learn the skills needed to become store associates, supervisors, managers, and business owners in the retailing and restaurant trades. Students will enter industry with supervisory knowledge and experience. They will be prepared, if they choose to enter post-secondary education. The Restaurant/Hotel Management strands based on the Prostart Curriculum offered by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. Students may earn state and national industry based certification and articulated credit with local two-year and four-year colleges.
Health and Human Services Career Academy
Strands offered: Health Services, Human Services.
The Health and Human Services Academy is designed to introduce students to early childhood education or health care occupations. Students in the Human Services Strand will work with young children in our on-site early childhood center. Health Strand students will work with people of all ages in healthcare facilities. Students may qualify for certification under various state and industry programs. Summer internships are available for students interested in careers in the health industry.
Science and Technology Career Academy
Strands offered: Environmental and Natural Resources, Networking Technologies, Advanced Study in Science and Math Cobb Academy.
The environmental and Natural Resources Strand allows students to prepare for exciting and diverse careers in environment management, advanced scientific research, land management, and environmental protection. Students may participate in local land, animal, water management research projects. Summer student internships are available in a variety of fields. The Networking Technologies Strand will teach students about the set-up, operation, and maintenance of personal computers and related technologies. Students will work on computers, printers, monitors, keyboards and other hardware. Students will also learn about software, operating systems, networking and the Internet. Students choosing a post-secondary education with this technological experience will be qualified to a pursue a multitude of careers at the university level. The Advanced Science and Math Academy is open to students who qualify for the Cobb Academy Program in Grade 8. This program is offered to academically advanced students with an interest in science or math.
Visual Arts and Applied Technology Career Academy
Strands offered: Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Ceramics, Arts and Cartooning, Construction Technology, Engineering.
The Visual Arts Career Academy will give students the in-class opportunity to begin and develop a competitive portfolio for college acceptance or job employment. During this process, students may apprentice with a professional artist and learn business-related skills. Each student will gain the artistic skills and confidence necessary to pursue a career in the visual arts. The Applied Technology Academy helps students develop the relevant knowledge, practical skills and appropriate attitudes and work ethic necessary to pursue meaningful and productive lives in construction and engineering technologies. All sequences can prepare a student for post-secondary education.
