Mr. G. Book

On the back of this newsletter you find the October Calendar of Events. I would draw your attention to two events.

The next meeting of the BWB PTA will take place on Wed. Oct. 1st at 7:00 PM. Child care will be available. I hope that you will be able to join us.

On Thursday, Oct. 2nd we have our annual School Picture Day. Some information went home last week and more will come home today with this newsletter.

I would like to review a few items that you will see on the calendar of events each month.
The PTA runs a school store twice per month on Fridays where students can purchase various items (i.e. pencils, erasers, etc.). Also twice per month the cafeteria sells ice cream for a cost of $1.00. It is low fat ice cream or fruit bars. Money put on account for school lunches cannot be used for the purchase of ice cream.

Each month you will also see a BWB School Spirit Day. It will always be on a Friday and information will be sent home by our Spirit Committee prior to the event.

You will note that this month Grade Three is going to Plimoth Plantation and Grade One to Coonamessett Farm. These two field trips are funded by the Cobb Fund. Well over 100 years ago, Enoch Cobb left some land to the Town of Barnstable that was to be used to the benefit of school children. BWB receives a per pupil allotment of that revenue which funds a field trip for each of our grade levels. Grades Kindergarten and Two will go on their trips in the spring. On a related note to chaperone and field trip one must have a Criminal Background check done (more commonly known as a CORI). The paperwork for that is in the front office. It is good for three years and for any Barnstable Public School. If you have had a CORI check done for a different organization you still must have one done for the Barnstable Public Schools as this information is not shared between organizations.

Finally, you will see a collection day for Box Tops for Education on the monthly calendar. Please save any box tops that you find on certain items you purchase. In a typical year our PTA is able to cash in these box tops for well over $1,000 which helps fund the many activities that are supported for our students.

If you are not currently receiving the BWB PTA E-newsletter, and would like to, please email or send a note into the office attention PTA/Jennifer Mullin to be added to our contact list. We look forward to another great year!
